The Weeping Prophet

A Study in Jeremiah

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”—Jeremiah 29:11

If you’ve memorized any verse from the book of Jeremiah, it’s probably the one above. You might be surprised, then, when we read message after message on sin and judgment. By the end of the book, Jerusalem has fallen and Solomon’s temple has been burned to the ground. As we read through this prophetic book, written by the Weeping Prophet, I pray that you will:

  • Open your heart to this sometimes uncomfortable message from God to His people
  • Grow in your awareness of God’s hatred of sin and His love of justice
  • Worship God not only as One who loves us, but the One who is sovereign over all
